Report Scammers Use AI Voice on Fake SpaceX Elon Musk Livestream to Request Crypto

A recent report reveals that more than 100,000 individuals tuned in to a counterfeit SpaceX livestream that featured a blend of authentic footage and an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated voice mimicking Elon Musk.

As per findings and a snapshot from TrustNodes, the counterfeit YouTube channel hosting the fake SpaceX livestream garnered over 125,000 viewers, with a QR code soliciting crypto donations displayed prominently on the screen.

The QR code remained visible throughout the entire duration of the livestream. Despite lacking an official verification check mark, the YouTube channel, @SpaceXFromElon, boasts nearly 3 million subscribers. In contrast, the legitimate SpaceX YouTube channel, @SpaceX, has 6.7 million subscribers and the crucial verified check mark.

During the phony livestream, the AI-generated voice impersonating Elon Musk extolled the virtues and potential profits of Bitcoin (BTC), before making a direct plea to viewers to scan the QR code in a bid to make them cryptocurrency-rich.

The proliferation of AI-generated crypto scam videos has surged alongside advancements in technology. Elon Musk frequently finds himself as a prime target, with the same channel previously broadcasting a similar live stream during an eclipse just two months prior.

Musk’s advocacy for Dogecoin (DOGE) is well recognized within the crypto community. Presently, data on how many viewers followed through with scanning the QR code remains undisclosed.
