Report Analysis of Donald Trumps Cryptocurrency Campaign Shows OnChain Donations Under 60000
Breadcrumbs, a blockchain data analysis company, has reported that traditional financial contributions to Donald Trump’s 2024 Presidential campaign far exceed his cryptocurrency donations. As of June 17, 2024, the campaign has received $59,386 in on-chain crypto donations, compared to approximately $244 million in traditional finance donations by the end of May.
The analysis was conducted before the recent $2 million donation from the Winklevoss twins. Breadcrumbs emphasizes that not all crypto transactions are recorded on-chain, meaning that off-chain transactions, which occur through centralized entities like Coinbase, are not included in the analysis.
According to Breadcrumbs, Trump’s campaign is accepting donations through Coinbase’s crypto payments service, Coinbase Commerce. However, the campaign’s wallet only accepts donations in USDC, requiring other cryptocurrencies to be converted before donation.
The analysis firm revealed that the campaign has received around $20,000 from the Ethereum (ETH) network, $27,500 on Polygon (MATIC), and $11,300 on Base, totaling less than $60,000.
Breadcrumbs clarifies that the campaign donations for Donald Trump do not include cryptocurrencies, memecoins, or NFTs created in support of Trump personally, as these are separate from campaign donations.
Despite the low cryptocurrency donations, Trump has been actively trying to attract digital asset supporters, recently referring to himself as “The Crypto President.” However, this comes after Trump’s recent conviction of 34 felonies by a New York jury.
