Congressman Ro Khanna Seeks Meeting with Crypto Leaders and Kamala Harris Campaign Team According to Reports
Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna is reportedly looking to facilitate a meeting aimed at improving Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign relations with the cryptocurrency sector. As a prominent advocate for crypto within the Democratic caucus, Khanna attempted to set up a Zoom call on Monday that would connect Harris’ team with key figures from the industry. However, this meeting has been postponed until later in the week, according to a tweet from Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett.
Terrett, referencing “three individuals with firsthand knowledge of the situation,” revealed that the meeting was expected to include notable crypto stakeholders, National Economic Advisor Lael Brainard, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reed, and Anita Dunn, a Biden adviser who recently announced her departure from the White House to assist a pro-Harris super PAC.
Recent developments indicate that Harris may be looking to engage more positively with the crypto community. Her campaign recently brought on board David Plouffe, a former adviser to Obama who previously served on Binance’s Global Advisory Board. Additionally, her team has reportedly reached out to various crypto companies, including Coinbase, Ripple, and Circle, with the goal of mending the party’s relationship with the digital asset industry.
These efforts come in light of former President Donald Trump, who was once a vocal critic of cryptocurrency, now attempting to position himself as a proponent of digital assets.
