Gala Announces Return of Over $20,000,000 by Hacker and Intends to Compensate Users Impacted by the Exploit

Blockchain-based gaming platform Gala (GALA) has successfully recovered more than $20 million worth of cryptocurrency assets that were stolen in a security breach earlier this week.

According to Gala’s statement, a hacker attempted to transfer $200 million worth of Gala tokens on May 20th, but the platform’s monitoring system detected the suspicious activity. This allowed Gala to freeze the tokens and blacklist the unauthorized wallet.

Gala emphasized that this was an isolated incident on the Ethereum network and that their immediate response was to activate GalaChain’s blocklist protocol. This effectively halted any further unauthorized minting and movement of GALA, mitigating the incident.

The platform added that 90% of the illicitly minted GALA tokens have been locked, and a vote within the Founder’s Node ecosystem governance will determine if these tokens will be considered burned.

Gala assured its community that the minting capabilities of GALA on GalaChain remain secure and uncompromised. The platform’s internal controls and multi-sig security protocols are continuously enhanced to stay ahead of potential threats.

Gala credited its security team’s prompt response and the involvement of law enforcement agencies for the successful recovery of the stolen crypto assets. The platform also plans to reimburse users who were affected by the exploit, particularly those who incurred high transactional fees.
