Helius CEO Announces ZK Compression Now Accessible to Solana SOL for 10000X Scale Enhancements

Light Protocol and Helius Labs have unveiled a groundbreaking new feature designed to enable developers to create applications on Solana (SOL) on a large scale.
Mert Mumtaz, the CEO of Helius, a service that optimizes Solana developer operations, explained that the new ZK compression feature will directly reduce costs on the project’s layer-1 without the need for layer-2s.
In simpler terms, Mumtaz stated that developers can now build and expand anything they want directly on Solana without having to look elsewhere. He used the example of an airdrop to 1,000,000 users, which would have cost over $260,000 for state alone, but now only costs $50 – a 5,200x cheaper option. This is just one example of the cost savings that this feature can offer.
The Light Protocol emphasized that the feature will maintain the security, performance, and composability of the Solana L1, and announced that the ZK compression testnet is already live.
At the time of writing, SOL is trading at $131.52. The cryptocurrency, ranked fifth by market cap, has seen a nearly 3% increase in the past 24 hours, but has decreased by more than 2.5% in the past seven days.
