Vitalik Buterin Announces Changes to Ethereum Foundation’s Leadership Structure to Achieve Five Objectives

Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin states that the non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the leading smart contract platform is undergoing significant changes to its leadership structure.

In a post on the social media platform X, Buterin indicates that the Ethereum Foundation (EF) has been in the process for nearly a year now to achieve five primary goals.

He mentions that the organization aims to enhance the level of technical expertise within its leadership, improve communication and relationships with users and developers, and attract fresh talent to boost efficiency and speed.

The ETH co-creator further adds that the Ethereum Foundation also intends to become more supportive of app builders and to safeguard users’ values and rights while continuing to promote the use of decentralized and privacy-centric technologies, as well as the Ethereum chain for payments and treasury management.

“I think that EF should be more willing to use tools built in the ecosystem (including in decentralized finance) even if it means we’re not entirely neutral in that sense. Though we should of course do this very judiciously.”

He also cautions against those advocating for agendas that do not align with the EF, including lobbying regulators and political figures, which he claims could compromise Ethereum’s position as a global neutral platform.

“These things aren’t what EF does and this isn’t going to change. People seeking a different vision are welcome to start their own organizations.”
