Uniswap Labs Introduces Mainnet for Unichain, a New Ethereum Layer-2 Solution
Uniswap Labs, the team behind the popular decentralized exchange Uniswap (UNI), has officially launched its new Ethereum (ETH) layer-2 blockchain.
According to an announcement from Uniswap Labs, the Unichain mainnet has been launched today as scheduled. Unichain is a layer-2 solution specifically optimized for decentralized finance (DeFi) transactions on the Ethereum network.
Developers can now utilize Unichain to deploy applications and build with stablecoins. Users of the new layer-2 platform can fund their wallets, launch tokens, explore new applications, provide liquidity, and engage in token swaps, as stated in the blog post.
In a post on the social media platform X, Unichain listed three main advantages of the new chain:
– Unichain mainnet is live
– Fast transactions with low fees
– Designed for cross-chain liquidity
– Emphasizes decentralization from the beginning
Unichain garnered immediate support from Coinbase, a leading US cryptocurrency exchange. Coinbase announced that it is expanding its Coinbase Onramp service to include Unichain. Users of Unichain now have a convenient way to convert fiat currency to cryptocurrency, with fee-free USDC on-ramping available from the start.
Unichain is a fast and decentralized layer-2 solution known as Superchain L2, designed to serve as a platform for DeFi applications and cross-chain liquidity.
The mainnet launch of Unichain was previously announced by Uniswap Labs last month. Once the safety and stability of the new system are confirmed, the mainnet will be open to the public. Users will be able to transfer funds directly to the network, and applications supporting Unichain will go live.
